Most commonly patients are told by their dentists that removable dentures are of the past and that fixed dentures based on implantated abutments are the most up-to-date solutions. They are never told however that not even implants are to last forever, secondly it's a more expensive and painful solution not to mention the hygienic and aesthetic disadvantages.
The upper denture remains fixed with the help of vacuum. An equivalent cohesion can be achieved in nearly every cases. Which is not the situation with the lower denture. While with the upper jaw there is the palate, with the lower jaw there is the tounge. The tounge constantly moves during speaking and chewing, which makes it impossible to achieve vacuum in the case of the lower jaw. This is why in most cases implants are needed to hold the denture of the lower jaw. Typically 4 implants are needed in this area.
Thus the solution is not a fixed denture based on implantated abutments, but a removable full denture based on implants.
Usually our patients are scared of being toothless and the feeling of having a large foreign body in their mouth. This is why it is interesting to hear the opinion of the same patients after being toothless and getting CENTROCC-prothesys:
P.M. 56 yrs old lady: "If I knew that it was so easy to get used to and that it puts an end to the constant inflamation and visits to my dentist, I would have had my teeth pulled out much earlier."
L.K.: "My previous dentist frightened me off of having a denture. I spent loads of money on implants. If I knew that it only works on a short-term and that wearing a denture is the best solution."
M.M. 52 yrs old lady: "My life is a theatre. I never thought that noone will realise that I don't have real teeth, not to mention that I can sing with my new denture, without being afraid that it will fly out."
Sz.K. 48 yrs old lady: "My life changed just the other way I expected it since wearing a denture. I regained my old looks and my bad breath is gone." |
