The name Centrocc comes from the phrase Central Occlusion.
In traditional denture-making procedures, the bite registration is done by biting into softened wax. The result of this method is uncertain, because obviously biting happens by chance in different possible ways. The result of wearing a denture based on a false bite (pictures 1. and 2.) is the false position of the mandibular joint.
This problem is solved by bite registration with an articulator, which results the central position of the mandibular joints = central occlusion (picture 3.).
If the teeth of the denture do not resemble to the form, colour and position of the real teeth, then the harmony of the face "disappears" or we can say that the patient "looses his/her face".
We try to make the denture as natural as possible, so the patient can regain his/her original facial features. |
